RESET THERAPY PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE

Dedicated to the Permanent Healing of Emotional Trauma

Based on continuing clinical success with RESET Therapy and combat Veterans with PTSD, a number of articles were written and published detailing the remediative effects of this treatment. From these early interventions, we have come to believe that this treatment was the means through which symptoms produced through trauma could be rapidly halted. Furthermore, each and every one of our patients emerged with attitudes of hope for a better future as opposed to their perception of being stuck in a destructive past from which there was no escape.

A training program was initiated in mid-September, 2016 involving six mental health professionals from the central Florida region.  These committed professionals met for two hours weekly at the MindSpa Integrative Wellness Center in Sarasota, FL. This continued over a seven-week period in order for the trainees to develop skills in RESET Therapy leading to Certification. A novel aspect of the training program was that Veteran volunteers with PTSD were elicited to provide the trainees with real life opportunities to assist those in need.

Earlier, an institutional review board proposal was developed by principal and co-investigators, George Lindenfeld, Ph.D., and  George Rozelle, Ph.D. This was submitted to the Quietmind Foundation which provides a source of oversight and research approval for independent or non-university affiliated researchers in alternative medicine. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Quietmind Foundation (QMF) is registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), IORG 0004684 and IRB 0005585.

Ultimately this project was approved on August 25, 2016 with a project title of: Evaluating the Effectiveness of RESET (Reconsolidation Enhancement through Stimulation of Emotional Triggers) Therapy through the utilization of a Bioacoustical Utilization Device (BAUD). The design of the research was to involve 36 combat veterans, 12 from Vietnam, 12 from the Desert Storm/Desert Shield era, and 12 from the Iraq/Afghanistan period.

Our intent was to determine if the use of a neuro-modulated sound (binaural beat) can have a significant and beneficial impact we refer to as remediation of symptoms on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in combat involved veterans. The primary investigator (Lindenfeld) has utilized this procedure on well over 100 patients including combat involved veterans suffering from PTSD in his private practice based on methodology developed by Dr. Frank Lawlis and his son, T Frank Lawlis, creators of the BAUD (“G. Frank Lawlis”).

Our Veteran volunteers are unpaid and receive extensive testing prior to receiving two to four treatment sessions. This is followed by post-treatment testing, 3-month and 12-month follow-up assessments. All testing is provided by a skilled individual referred to as a psychometrician who is not involved in the treatment process. The results of the testing are to be analyzed by Dr. Michael Sutherland who is a Harvard trained statistician. Through his analysis, we hope to document the changes in functioning that occur through the treatment process.

WE are still in the recruitment phase of this study seeking to secure funding and Veteran volunteers. Thus, the ending of this discussion will alter over time to include advances or difficulties we encounter as we proceed with this effort.
